Jasmine Rae Appears on 'Help Is On It's Way' in Support of Mens Mental Health
Queensland Music Festival is celebrating its 20th Anniversary with the release of their ‘Help is on its Way’ charity single, featuring Jasmine Rae and some of Australia’s other best-loved artists shining a light on positive men’s mental health.
Led by ARIA Hall of Fame inductee Glenn Shorrock of the legendary Little River Band and featuring the extraordinary voices of Wendy Matthews, The McClymonts, Beccy Cole, Jasmine Rae, Travis Collins, Busby Marou and Fanny Lumsden - the fresh country version ofLRB’s biggest hit was unveiled last night atthe launch of the 2019 Queensland Music Festival program, which also includes aspectacular event on July 27 in Brisbane where a choir of thousands from across Australia will sing together in a show of solidarity and community.
The single, produced by Queensland Music Festival’s Artistic Director Katie Noonan and Michael Tan, is released via ABC Music across digital platforms including iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon and others, will raise money for Roses in the Ocean (www.rosesintheocean.com.au), an organisation dedicated to suicide prevention, with all artists giving their time for free and donating their proceeds from the recording of the song.
Less than half of Australians living with a mental health issue seek professional help with men being far less likely to seek help than women. Suicide is currently the most common cause of death for males aged 15-45 years and people living in regional areas are at a significantly higher risk.
“I am proud that a song like ‘Help Is On Its Way’ continues to resonate in 2019 and to have it bring hope and be a rallying cry for such an important public health issue is humbling for me as a songwriter,” said Glenn Shorrock.
“To be singing a song that’s been such an important part of my life, backed up by thousands ofchoristers is going to be an experience for all of us that we won’t forget.”
The concert will be live-streamed, with choirs and community groups already registered in every state and territory of Australia to be part of this unique choral experience. Lend your voice as we sing out for mental health awareness.
Shorrock will also headline an outback tour partnering with the Black Dog Institute, Royal Flying Doctor Service and regional councils, visiting Chinchilla, Moranbah, Barcaldine, Hughendon, Birdsville, Cunnamulla, Beaudesert and Townsville with choral workshops undertaken by QMF creating choral groups in each area who will then sing with Shorrock and acclaimed Queensland singer songwriter Emma Dean at these special regional events.
